Many repairs can even be performed right there and then, saving you from having to spend any more time waiting for your boiler to be back in perfect working order.
New boiler installation
Choosing a new boiler is a big decision. Whether you are replacing an old, tired boiler or fitting a brand new heating system to a new property we can help. There are times when fixing an existing system is no longer economical. While it may seem expensive, it can end up saving you a lot of money in the long run.
There are many reasons to get a new boiler, including:
- Lower energy bills
- Lower carbon footprint
- Better control over your heating system
- Safer and more reliable than older systems
- Peace of mind whatever the weather
There are a lot of options to choose from and picking the right one is essential. A boiler that’s not powerful enough will leave you shivering through cold winters, while one that’s built for bigger spaces can be unnecessarily expensive. An experienced heating engineer can help you choose just the right model for your needs. Choose from a range of top models from (Worcester Bosch, Baxi, Potterton) and more.
Having a yearly boiler service is the best way to keep your heating working its best. In fact, a WHICH survey in 2020 found that over 70% of boilers serviced every year never needed a repair. The small yearly cost of an inspection could end up saving you a lot of money down the road. IT also helps you live safe in the knowledge that your boiler is working fine and not hiding any little issues that will only get worse and worse as time goes on.
The engineer should then provide a service report detailing all the checks they’ve performed and giving the all-clear or listing any issues they recommend you look into. They can talk you through any questions you may have and advise on anything you should consider having repaired or replaced.
If your combi boiler is fairly new it might still be under the original warranty. Most new boilers come with cover for parts and labour for up to two years. It is definitely worth checking before you book your first service.
Things to remember
It is always worth double-checking with your engineer what’s included in the boiler service.
Annual servicing should include all the following checks:
- A visual inspection of the boiler
- Internal and external flue inspection
- Pressure check
- Safety system checks
- inspection of the seals and pipes
- Internal inspection (with casing removed)
- Cleaning of required components
Most inspections take over 30 minutes and should involve removing the boiler covering for a thorough inspection. If it seems a little quick or incomplete it is worth checking they’ve covered all of the above.
Older boilers often have more complex parts that might need more attention. Older heat exchangers, burners and fans sometimes need to be dismantled to perform a complete inspection. If your boiler is over 10 years old the inspection is likely to take a bit longer. Your engineer may suggest upgrading to a newer model if repairs and new parts would be uneconomical.
At the end, you should receive a fully completed written report. If you have any concerns this is a good time to ask any questions and make sure they’ve talked you through anything on the report that’s not clear.
